Turn Back

שׁוּב Strong’s #7725 shuv

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Genesis 3:19

This word means “to return to a previous state or place.” The first use of this word is found in Genesis 3:19 where man (adam), who is taken from the ground (adamah) will return (shuv) to the ground (adamah). This verb is frequently used for repentance, where one is going in the wrong direction but then turns around and heads back in the correct direction.
