קֶרֶן Strong’s #7161 qeren

Save me from the lion’s mouth; Yea, from the horns of the wild-oxen thou hast answered me.

Psalm 22:21

The horns of animals were very versatile objects. They were used as trumpets and even as a weapon in war. They were used to store liquids such as olive oil, foods and medicine. In many ancient cultures kings wore horns as a sign of their power; in fact, the points on modern day crowns are holdover representations of horns and, in addition, our word “crown” comes from the Hebrew word qeren.
